Professor Who Criticized $2.5 Million Plan to Save a Confederate Statue Is Now Being Canceled

The University of North Carolina is being accused of cancelling another liberal professor who criticized its handling of the infamous “Silent Sam” Confederate monument. AdvertisementThe decision not to reappoint him was allegedly politically motivated, according to a source who spoke to NC Policy Watch. The UNC Board of Governors committee overseeing the appointment said they wouldn’t consider the nomination of Muller, the UNC Press board’s chair for the last six years, NC Policy Watch reported. But another member of the board who was reappointed was also up for a third term, like Muller, NC Policy Watch reported. Neither Powers nor the Board of Governors’ chair, Randy Ramsey, the president of a custom yacht company, responded to LinkedIn messages from VICE News requesting comment, nor did a spokesperson for the Board of Governors.
